Primary Schools

True to the grass roots philosophy Caroline Bennfors has, over the last three years, developed strong links with local primary schools taking tennis to school playgrounds.

Working with the North West Surrey Schools Sports Partnership and Surrey Lawn Tennis Association, ran a teacher training “Tennis Workshop” which was attended by 24 school teachers across the partnership. All teachers left the workshop with practical coaching tips, a DVD and training manual with lesson plans and a tennis starter pack of 30 mini rackets, mini net and balls.

This summer term 5 primary schools have received curriculum tennis and / or after school tennis sessions funded by Surrey LTA. The children love it and the coaches have been greatly rewarded seeing the children enjoy and improve their tennis skills. On 18 June 150 children across these schools got together on the Woking Park tennis courts for a festival of tennis. Fun, fun, fun...... and noise!

In addition to delivering tennis in schools coaches attend school assemblies to promote the game of tennis and extend opportunities for all school children whatever age, ability, abled and disabled, to come join the fun on court!

Taking advantage of the proximity to Woking Park and its newly renovated courts this year St. John The Baptist (SJB) school launched an after school tennis club. Every Monday and Wednesday Year 7 to 9 head for Woking Park for an hour of coaching and fun games.
